I had this Friday off so Sam decided to take it off too. We decided to have a fun filled family day. About a month ago Sam and Granny Penn took the twins to the Children's Museum in Denver and they raved about how much fun it was. So we decided to head down there for the day so I could experience it. Abby and Luke actually slept in today! :) We left our house around 9am and prayed it wouldn't be too crowded. We lucked out and had a really empty parking lot and it wasn't crowded at all. I was amazed at how cool this place is! They have areas designed for kids of all ages. We first headed to the small kid area which was a meadow theme that had little houses, trees, slides made from roots and so much more. We played there for at least an hour. We then headed upstairs to the bug area where you pretend to be ants and worms and crawl through tunnels.
The twins started getting hungry after that so we went outside to the park and had a picnic lunch. After lunch we played on the playground for awhile before heading back inside. Before lunch the Market area was packed with kids but when we went back in there was hardly anyone there so we took advantage. This is a pretend store with a cash register, shopping carts and a kitchen. Oh how we loved it in there! They were so serious picking out food to put in their carts and ringing up the groceries. They do go to the store with Connie about once a week so they knew exactly what to do! We just let them play until they were ready to leave...probably a good 45 minutes!
One of our last stops was the art area. We let the kids paint a picture. I had Luke and he painted very nicely...Sam had Abby and he painted her hands so she could finger paint! Then when he wasn't looking she dipped the paintbrush and painted her face!
What a fun mess! As we waited for our art to dry we danced and played on the magnet board. The museum was wonderful and the twins had a blast and we enjoyed watching the explore and play. They fell asleep about 10 minutes into the drive home and slept for another hour that afternoon. We will definitely be going back again.
