Animal Kingdom

What was I thinking making breakfast reservations at 8:40 in the morning? At home we are already a few hours into our day but on vacation...bad move. We had a goal of leaving the hotel by 8 so we could make our breakfast with Donald, Mickey, Pluto and Goofy at the Animal Kingdom. A late start, long bus ride and a restaurant at the back of a theme park made us late but they still honored our reservation...just after a long wait. It was well worth the wait. The food was good and Hayden got to see Pluto, his favorite, Cooper saw Goofy, his favorite and well, we all love Mickey. Surprise...they even did a dance around the dining area that we took part in.

We have gotten smart about the fast pass so while we waited for breakfast the guys went and got fast passes for the Kilimanjaro Safari ride. It was probably my favorite ride of all. You get in a real truck...not on tracks and go on a safari. We saw alligators, rhinos, hippos, elephants, giraffes, lions and tons of other animals. The twins loved it. Afterwards we did a walk-a-bout and saw more animals. Luke of course loved the fish and could of sat all day watching them.

We decided to make our way to the Everest Roller Coaster ride because Sam and Ryan really wanted to ride it. Somehow they even convinced Hayden to go on it (I think it involved something with Pluto). Abby fell asleep as I was carrying her and woke up every time we put her in the stroller so Connie and I decided to walk to the dinosaur area. I found a shady spot to let Abby sleep and Cooper, Luke and Connie started exploring. They boys joined up with us pretty quickly (love the fast pass) and they all went on a dino dig. Then Sam and Luke rode a dinosaur ride that was just like Dumbo. They had some great daddy-son time.

Abby woke up in time to go on the dinosaur ride (Lucky Luke got to go twice)! We met back up with the Roses' to grab some lunch. By this time Luke was asleep...we just couldn't catch a break with them sleeping at the same time! Miss Mae-Mae was in great spirits and was cracking us up! Here she is being the little Diva she likes to be.
After a yummy BBQ lunch we watched a bird show and found a spot for Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade. This African themed parade was different than the others we had seen, the "floats" were so amazing. Unfortunately, Luke slept through the entire thing! I don't know how because the walkways were so skinny I felt like we could reach out and touch the parade.
After the parade we took a train ride to Rafiki's area. It was all about conservation. Luke woke up right in time for the train and was ready to go. While we were there we met Jiminy Cricket and Pocahontis. We also saw some goats ramming each other on a bridge...pretty funyn! The kids all got a kick out of it.

The park closed at 6:00 which was a bummer because we were really enjoying ourselves. The Lizar's, this time with Craig in tow, were back in town so we met them at Downtown Disney for dinner and fun. Unfortunately I think everyone else had the same idea because the place was packed! When we first got there, Sam went to change Abby and Luke found a fountain to play in. And get soaked. We had a couple tell us that watching him was some of the best entertainment they had all day. Smart Sam had suggested we bring a change of clothes so he was dry in no time.
After dinner we walked around the boardwalk taking in the sights. There was a dance show going on and that caught Abby's eye. Craig, Emily and the kids volunteered to take the twins to play while Sam and I had some "alone" time. They headed to the Lego store and we tried to do some shopping. The stores were too crowded so we went to Giradelli's ice cream shop and had milkshakes instead. Hey, we have been doing lots of walking and carrying of toddlers that we deserved it!
We met up with our friends to find our kids having a blast on the slide. We let them play until they were exhausted and made our way back to the bus area. Both kids were sound asleep on the bus. We even changed them and they didn't wake up. Another fun filled day at an amazing park!
