Mountains in the Fall

A friend of mine from high school got married in Vail. Since it was an adults only reception we invited Grandma Penn up to Vail with us so we could go to the wedding and then spend the rest of the weekend enjoying the beautiful Colorado mountains in the fall. We met up with our friends Paula and Aaron for the wedding and reception and had a fantastic time, all 4 of us enjoying a kid free evening out.
The next morning we explored Vail. Abby and Luke are always asking to ride a school bus whenever we see one. Vail has a free bus so we couldn't pass up the opportunity to let the kids ride on it. As you can see they were overly excited about it.
We got off the bus right at a fire station and of course the twins were fascinated. The firemen were so nice and gave us a tour of the station and the firetrucks. Abby climbed up and sat in the truck and Luke walked around checking everything out. The firemen turned the lights on and gave them stickers and firemen silly bands. So much fun! After the fire station we walked down to the farmer's market to find the crepe booth the firemen recommended to us. As we walked we stopped to see all the bronze statues (a moose, elk, bear) which we loved. After a great breakfast of crepes we played at the farmer's market for awhile and met up with our friends. We had so much fun discovering new things. At one point Abby and Luke found butterflies and spent a fair amount of time watching them fly around the flowers. Grandma Penn loved spending time with the twins. They had a great time at the condo while we were out for the night...somehow they fell asleep at 7:30!
The beautiful view of the mountainside from our balcony.
