Gone Fishing

While we were in Red River Uncle Bill, Uncle Kevin and Grandpa Fish decided to take the twins fishing for the first time. Sam was so disappointed that he couldn't be there so he bought all the gear they would need. Two legitimate fishing poles and cute seats for them to sit on. The day we planned to go it was pouring rain and the kids were so upset. Thankfully late in the afternoon it cleared up and we headed to the fishing pond. Everyone was so helpful teaching the kids what to do. Luke took it very seriously and was determined to catch a fish. Abby enjoyed herself and liked catching "seaweed" but got bored and started looking at the ducks. About an hour into the trip Luke caught a fish!! Uncle Bill helped him reel it in and he was the most excited I have seen him in a long time!!! Abby was cheering right along. He caught a pretty decent sized rainbow trout.
Funny part is he didn't want to touch it without his glove. When we got to the pond he saw a little boy fishing with a glove on and insisted that he needed one too. We finally convinced him that he didn't need a glove and he touched his fish. Uncle Bill cleaned it for us and we froze it so we could bring it home to Colorado to show daddy. They plan to have a boys night and grill Luke's first rainbow trout. I don't think this will be Luke's last fishing trip, he needs to show daddy his skills.
