Welcome to the Penn Family blog! We wanted to set something up so you can keep track of the twins from far away. I am currently 34 weeks pregnant, finished with work, on modified bed rest and waiting for the babies to arrive. Back in January the doctors were worried that the babies would come very early but here we are...babies still growing, great heartrates and no signs of labor. We expect them to arrive between 36-37 weeks although the doctors said we might even be able to hold off until week 38. Whatever it takes to get them ready for the world. They are still measuring in the lower percentiles but are growing steadily. Last week we had a growth scan and Baby A weighed 3 lbs. 8 oz. and Baby B weighed 3 lbs. 9 oz. That means 7 lbs of babies are growing inside my stomach! It is no wonder I am so tired all the time.
Sam and I have been busy getting ready for their arrival. We've spent the last few months taking some new parent classes. Sam went to Daddy Bootcamp and we both went to Survival Skills for New Parents, CPR and Childbirth Class. We went on a tour of the hospital where I will deliver and it is very nice. They recently remodled the entire unit so it doesn't feel much like a hospital. They even make fresh baked chocolate chip cookies every afternoon! Between the cookies and room service I might never want to leave!
The nursery is ready, we have lots of diapers, car seats will be put in by the Fire Department soon, the basement is almost done and we think we have everything we might need. If not, Target is a short drive away. Now it is a waiting game and I can relish in the nesting phase...the other day I reorganized the pantry then most of the kitchen cabinets. Hopefully I can get some reading done and enought sleep to last me through the next 18 years!
Keep checking back and we will updated you on all the exciting adventures of our new family!!
