Our Christmas Tree

We have a sad story to tell about our Christmas tree this year. A few weeks ago Sam, Abby and Luke picked out an amazingly beautiful and huge Christmas tree. They found it at Lowe's for only $35. Sam wanted to wait for me but the twins were so excited about this tree that they brought it home...along with a sweet blow up Santa for the front yard. When we brought it inside immediately the house smelled amazing. It was so big that we had to buy extra lights. We put a few decorations on it but were waiting for the big Penn decorating day.
Well...today was the day and the poor tree was dying...literally, when we tried to put an ornament on all the needles fell off. Sam and I were depressed and not sure what to do. We called Lowe's and the guy on the phone told us to bring it back and get a new one. The twins were napping so we quickly took off the lights and got it back to the store..the amount of needles on the ground was crazy! The manager at Lowe's was not as helpful as the man on the phone but the tree was returned. The sad news is that it was pretty slim pickings for Christmas trees. Sam got the best one he could find and brought it home...it was much, much smaller than the one the twins picked out.
We told the twins that our tree got sick and we had to get a new one. Luke was a bit disappointed but the strands of lights on the floor distracted him. Abby on the other hand started bawling and crying "no!!!" She was devastated. It took awhile for her to stop crying (the entire time mom and dad's heart was breaking) but eventually she stopped and said, "Aww, it's a baby tree!" We had them help us put the lights and ornaments on. In the end it turned out to be a nice looking Christmas tree. Abby and Luke were pretty happy with their handy work.
