It is amazing that we have begun 2009. This past year has been filled with so much joy and love we wonder what 09' is going to bring us. Looking back over the past 12 months I think about how the year started out with worry for the twins. They were measuring extremely small and we began to see a specialist in Denver. There was concern about the lack of blood flow and possibly early delivery. Our little troopers managed to stay with me until 38 weeks and although they were small and Luke had a week long stay in the NICU you wouldn't know it 8 months later.
I was on winter break for the last two weeks and Sam was able to take off all but 3 of those days. We had such a fun time with Abby and Luke. Some of our favorite moments were of them playing together. One day in the bath Luke was wearing his washcloth on his head. Abby pulled it off and squealed with laughter. Luke turned around and started splashing her and then they were both laughing. We couldn't help ourselves and were cracking up with them. We have a railing around our stairs to the basement which they discovered this past week. Both of them crawled to one side and stood hanging on to the railing. We were on the other side and they thought it was the greatest thing to look at mommy and daddy through the bars. They stood there laughing for quite some time.
We are enjoying seeing them interact with each other. Most times their play is fun but sometimes they get rough with each other. Abby likes to steal whatever toy Luke is playing with and in the past few weeks Luke began stealing back...or stealing what she is playing with. Sometimes they don't realize when something or someone is in their way. Both of them like to push the other out of the way to get to what they want. We have had some bumps, bruises and scraps this month but it is all part of growing up. Last week Luke looked like he had been put through the wringer... a scrape by his eye, two under his nose and one long one on his cheek.
As we enter our new year we have many things to be thankful for but more importantly we have another year to watch our beautiful children grow and discover the world.
