Mountain Getaway

We had a much needed mini-vacation in Beaver Creek this weekend...much needed!! August and September are both so busy at work for Sam and I that it was great to get away for a long weekend. Our friend Maggie and her boyfriend Tommy came to visit from D.C. We headed to Beaver Creek and stayed at the Ritz-Carlton...AMAZING!!

Sam and I were a bit nervous how the twins would do but they insisted that the hotel was kid friendly and it was. Abby and Luke had cribs with quilts and bumpers and a goodie bag waiting for them in the room. The also got cute cowboy hats and stuffed "Bachelor" dogs from the valets. The hotel was also dog friendly and since the twins LOVE dogs that worked to our advantage...they were everywhere and all we heard from them was "dog-dog!!"
Our first night there we ate dinner outside because it was a beautiful night. The hotel sits at the base of the mountain so the view was incredible. Abby and Luke enjoyed pigging out and then playing with the games. Luke was intrigued by the lawn darts balls and Abby played boccie ball. After dinner and games we sat by the fire and had s'mores...well not really...the other people had s'mores we just had a marshmallows.
The next day Sam and Tommy went golfing where Sam was 4 inches away from his first hole in one!! Maggie and I took the twins to Vail and walked around, ate some lunch and went to a park to play.
That night we had an incredibly delicious dinner at Spago...again nervous about the kids going to such a nice restaurant but they were wonderful. They did great and ate a huge bowl of mac and cheese while we dined on scallops, steak, gnocchi and wine. On Sunday we were lazy in the morning and then spend the afternoon in Vail. Since it was Oktoberfest we ate German food for lunch. Our afternoon was cut short by the rain slowly changing to snow so we all decided to head home.
It was a fabulous weekend with fabulous friends!
