Rockford Discovery Center

Our first full day in Rockford my Aunt Sue and cousin Emily took us to the Discovery Center. It is a really cool children's museum and they just added two new "tot spots." We had a blast. Emily's daughter is 6 months younger than the twins and it was fascinating to watch them play. Luke and Abby are just getting into pretend play and they spend most of their time actually playing while Carolyn was discovering...and loving every bit. As a mom it was neat to sit back and watch what they did.

Luke playing UPS man. He would of done this all day if we let him. He would put the boxes on the track, slide them down to the box, stack them and do another one. He did this over and over and got so mad if another kid came to play with it. They had a neat pizza making station where kids could make pizza, put it in the oven, then in a box and deliver it to a table. Abby loved this...until she discovered the house! Then she discovered the life size house with a baby inside. We didn't see her leave for about 45 minutes. She rocked the baby, read to the baby, gave it a bottle and then put her to sleep. She went to do some laundry and half way through she says "oh no!" and rushes to the baby to put in her pacifier. So cute. When the baby woke up she took her to the table and fed her. Then they went on a stroller walk. She did this over and over, do you think she is ready to be a big sister?Luke also discovered the house and after he cleaned the dishes and put the food in the fridge he found the vacuum. He loves to clean and cleaned the entire house, the front porch, the pizza area and the rest of the tot spot! I wish they made working kid vacuums...our chore list could get smaller!
The last thing we discovered was so much fun! They were actually quite afraid of it to start but then ended up having a blast. These tubes had blowers attached to them. You were suppose to put the tube in a hole and press the button. It would then blow up flowers, balls, confetti or whatever was in the tube. After they did that for awhile Emily showed them how to blow each others hair. You would think that was the greatest thing on earth. The laughter was priceless.
After a long morning playing we headed for lunch at a Rockford staple...Beef a Roo! While I was getting lunch, Luke fell asleep in the car...you have got to love places that wear a toddler out! Thank you so much Emily and Aunt Sue!! We had a blast!
