Flatirons Mall

On Wednesday we picked up Grandma Fischer from the airport...she is visiting us for two weeks this summer. We've been talking about going to Flatirons Mall for awhile to shop at the Pumpkin Patch...this really cute kids clothing store. I hadn't been there in a few years and I hadn't seen it through the eyes of a toddler. After a long car ride to the airport and then to the mall we were ready to play. Our first stop was the dinosaur play area...it is these big foamish dinosaurs to climb all over. Since it was early in the day it wasn't too crowed and Abby and Luke LOVED it. They climbed on everything and played with all the wall toys, running and squealing with delight.
After some serious playing we did a little shopping and got some lunch...chicken nuggets and apple slices...yum. After an hour long nap while shopping they were ready to play again. The mall has a huge outdoor sandbox with toys to play in. Really we could of stayed there all afternoon but it was sunny and I didn't have sunscreen or hats, so we decided to head home.
Colorado has been having some severe weather the last few days so I wanted to beat the afternoon storms, just the day before we had a tornado warning in Greeley and lost power for about an hour. We were driving home under sunny skies when Sam called and said not to come to Greeley because there was a tornado spotted. We pulled off at Johnstown Corner and waited out the storm...still sunny where we were. Once it seemed all clear we started driving east towards home. The sky was so dark over Greeley. We were about 5 minutes from home when there was another warning for the east side of town. We hurried home and camped out in the basement. Greeley and the surrounding areas were hit hard by hail but luckily no tornadoes touched down. We are about done with the severe and cool weather...bring on summer we are ready for the pool!!
