As we started walking towards the Mall the rain began to fall a little harder...we were walking across the Ellipse with 3 umbrellas, a twin stroller and no shelter in sight when the downpour began. Not only was it raining hard the lightening and thunder seemed pretty close to us. We couldn't seem to walk fast enough to get to "shelter" and I was freaked out to say the least. We finally made it to the Museum of American History and got out of the rain...the twins were both still sleeping so we started browsing the exhibits. About halfway through they woke up so we headed to the kids areas to let them play. There were two really fun places...one was Inventions at Play and the other was the Spark Lab. It was nice to get them down and let them explore. In the creation area we had them both make their first refrigerator art projects for their grandmas.

By this point in the day we were all getting hungry...the museum cafeteria was packed so we headed to Pennsylvania Ave and found a fun English Pub to eat lunch at. We had Shepard's Pie that was amazing. Abby and Luke shared with mom and dad and loved it. We also discovered Luke's liking of lettuce. Luke again flirted with the girls at the pub...he seems to have a way with them. After lunch we walked back to the hotel for a swim in the roof top pool.
That night mom and grandma went out to dinner with Maggie and a few of her friends to celebrate her birthday. Sam and the twins went to dinner with Dave and took a walk around the neighborhood. They played at Dupont Circle and the twins discovered fireflies for the first time. Sam said they ran around trying to catch them. I wish I was there to see it!
