Spring Day at the Zoo

I love being on spring break. I hate that Sam has to work it. Grandma and Grandpa Fish gave us a zoo membership for our family Christmas present and we LOVE it! We have already been several times. The twins have a great time and pretty much have the layout of the zoo down...good memory those two. We went down over spring break with my work friend Kim and her 3 1/2 year old son Ryder. The day was perfect, 70 degrees and not too busy. It is different not going with Sam or a grandma for that one on one with the kids but I did it and we had a great time. What is fun about the zoo is that you never know what animal is going to put on a show for you. Last time we had to monkeys playing tag, this time we had a strolling polar bear. He kept making a circle and came right in front of the glass viewing area. There were about 6 preschoolers squealing with delight every time he walked by the window and we spent about 20 minutes there.

The other thing that is a must do when we go to the zoo is the carousel and train ride. Luckily for us the twins are still free and it is only $1.50 for adults, cheap thrills. Abby loves riding on the dolphin and Luke has a long list of animals he goes for. I was nervous how I would do this myself if they chose animals far from each other, but Luke wanted the elephant that was right next to the dolphin. Happy mommy. About 10 minutes after we rode the carousel and train we met up with Connie, Hayden and Cooper. Hayden really wanted to do both with the twins so they got a second ride on each with the Roses. Lucky kids.

We spent over 4 hours and I had two exhausted kids on the way home, they were sound asleep before we even got out of the parking garage. As a family, we are looking forward to many more trips to the zoo.
