Christmas 2011

We are an extremely blessed family in so many ways. At church and school the twins have been learning about Jesus and the true meaning of Christmas. They still are excited about Santa but they do know that we celebrate because it is Jesus' birthday and that he watch over us and helps us make good choices. We feel blessed to have the opportunity to share the holiday season with so many people that we hold close to our hearts...family and friends...and miss those dearly who are far away.
This year when we went to see Santa the kids choose some presents to take to Toys for Tots. We cleaned out the toy closet and found a few that were still in their boxes. Then we picked two names off the tree at church to buy presents for. They each picked out the gift and then helped wrap the gift. It felt good to teach our children how to give back during Christmas time.
Because then the influx of gifts came...we had Christmas Eve, Christmas day (go Santa), Christmas with Grandma GG and Christmas with Grandma and Grandpa Fisher...wow! Santa brought the kids just what they asked for, a workbench and workstool for Luke & ballet clothes for Bitty Baby, flowers and butterflies for her bedroom wall for Abby. The Grandma's, Grandpa's Aunts, Uncles and cousins helped decorate their new rooms and gave them lots of cool new toys to play with. We did get a chuckle over the fact that that the first gift they played with was a paint set from the dollar section and then the grow and animal from a capsel from the dollar section. Go figure!
It is always a surprise what our kids are going to eat. Since we has such a busy Christmas Eve we didn't want to force anything on the kids. Luke ate about 10 strawberries for dinner and Abby had 2 breadsticks. ;-) For Christmas, I always make Sam and I prime rib. I knew the kids would not eat it so I made them a gourmet meal of ABC123's (their favorite), yogurt and fruit. After grace Abby started eating and Luke pushed his plate away and said, "This is not my Christmas dinner!" Ok then...we made him a plate of prime rib, roasted veggies and a roll...he ate it all up! The kid has great taste!
We had a wonderful Christmas as a family. It truly is a blessing to watch our children grow, learn and discover. We are lucky. Here is what our tree looked like after the twins decorated it. :-)
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
