5 months and growing

Today is Abigail and Luke's 5 month birthday!! They were very lucky and got to spend the afternoon with Daddy. Too bad it included a doctor appointment and bloodwork but when mommy got home she had two extremely happy babies who were eating their dinner with daddy. They played so hard that they both fell asleep at 7:00 so mom could watch her netflix movie that has been sitting here for two...maybe three weeks.

Everyone tells us how fast the time will go and they are right...it is flying. But the other day a wise mom shared some words of wisdom with me. She reminded me of how fast babies grow up but to cherish those times that move slowly. I wasn't sure what she meant and then she reminded me of the middle of the night when you are exhausted and you have a baby that won't fall back to sleep. The minutes move so slowly when it is dark outside. I thought of her statement last night when Abby was up with me and Luke was up with Sam. It was about 4:30 in the morning and Abby was fussing. All of a sudden she looked up at me and smiled. Right then I didn't care how tired I was or that I had to be "up" in less than an hour. I took time to enjoy the slow minutes on the clock and cuddled my daughter. Later that morning, after Sam went back to sleep on the couch, Luke and I decided we would surprise him and wake him up for work. I leaned Luke over the back of the couch and called Sam's name. The first thing he saw was Luke smiling down at him (and a little drool). He quickly forgot the rough night and was ready to start the day. Amazing what children can do to you.

We are definitely ready for the twins to be feeling better so we can go back to sleeping through the night again, but when they are up no matter how tired we are we will just remember how fortunate we are to have these extra moments with them.

Oh by the way....I am finally fitting back into most of my old clothes...including my favorite jeans!!!! What a great feeling last Friday when I put them on. Only bad thing is I don't have an excuse anymore to go shopping for new stuff.
