Day 2 or Day 3? & Happy Birthday Kimda

Ok, before mom gets forgotten on this little blog. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!

Gonna be up front and honest - Team Penn is running on fumes at the moment. Not really sure if this is day two or day three, but its been an awesome ride so far. News and notes from last night specifically, we put Abby and Luke in the same bassinet and they LOVED it, ok, so did mom and I :). Our night was spent committed to feeding every three hours, which went something like this, feed Abby for 1 hour, feed Luke for 1 hour, walk mom back to the room (20 minutes) sleep for 40 minutes and then back to the NICU to feed again. All in all, not an awful night because we got to see our children like this:

To recap, mom is doing well. A few bouts with pain, emotions and feeding from the last 48 hours are prepping her for the next 18 years. Abby is doing great. She has been feeding well, sleeping well, and well, she poops and pees with the best of them. The bow we had put into her hair is still there - I think surgical lube = crazy glue. Lucas has not yet left the NICU. He is off of the IV currently and has been feeding really well, but his blood sugar levels and an appearance of jaundice have kept him in that little area. Again, more bonding for dad and Luke - I think he's already tired of hearing dad say "LUKE, I am your father." Luke's status has led to some elevated stress and concerns from Kim and I but I think our patience is paying off and he'll be out of there soon.

We are blessed to have the friends and family that we do. The phone calls, visits, cards and flowers have been well received and appreciated by our family. We look forward to seeing more people and getting in touch with the rest of you as we spread the word Team Penn. We are still on pace to leave on Monday evening sometime depending on Kim and Luke, but if not, we'll figure it out and get everyone home as soon as we can. Be well, we love you.
